Victory: Photography Project — 82

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

We’re having a nice long weekend and Victory had a great Valentine’s Day!  After all, she is our little Valentine!   She now has some more toys to hoard in her ‘hut’ and some cute bowls to eat her treats in!  A few images from this weekend are shown below!

Happy Monday!

Happy Valentine’s Day – Doug and Victory!

Happy Valentine’s Day to my two loves — you both make my life so much sweeter!  (Biscuit is never forgotten and he will always be our first fur love).

We cannot believe that it is our third Valentine’s Day with little Victory, and for Doug and I it is our twelfth Valentine’s Day together!  Where has the time gone!  I can still vividly remember our first Valentine’s Day together.  I have every Valentine’s Day card (and every other card) Doug has given me; and on our first Valentine’s Day, we gave each other the same card unbeknownst to each other, a good omen!

For Valentine’s Day, Victory is getting some fun valentine themed chew toys, and a couple of small bowls for her snacks/treats!  We are excited for spring to come, in a little over a month, and we hope that it comes early, as we are in a deep freeze here!  Doug and I are celebrating Valentine’s Day this weekend by going to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in D.C. and then we will spend the evening together with our fur girl, Victory, likely watching a Netflix/Amazon marathon!   My loves, Doug and Victory, are shown below!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!  I hope that you have a lovely long weekend!

Victory: Ten Things…

Below are ten things you may not have known about our little fur girl, Victory!

1. She loves ‘play time’ right before bed!  We think it is her favorite time of day!  She jumps around, tries to get our hands in her mouth, makes noises, and she occasionally barks!  She is quite agile and can really jump and move swiftly!  I will have to work on getting a video of Victory in action!

2. In addition to loving riding in the car, she absolutely loves coming home in the car to her garage — it is so magical and exciting for our fur girl, Victory!

3. She loves going in her Ergo!  Who wouldn’t, right?  However, we save the Ego for when we really need it.

4. She loves almost all types of human food, and she enjoys coming into the kitchen and to the dining table for some treats in the evening!  She also loves to be fed while we watch television in the evenings!

5.  She loves her Fromm wet and dry food and eats her breakfast and dinner in no time flat on the sofa, no less!

6. During the night, she loves to lay on pillows above our heads.  Some nights, she snuggles her head right up against mine (or Doug’s)!  She rarely snores and she loves having a flush headboard.  We discovered during our vacation, last year, that she only likes flush headboards as opposed to non-flush headboards, as she slept in between us and we could hardly move!

7. Whenever Victory is nervous, she lifts her left paw up.  She can become easily stressed in new situations that are unfamiliar.  However, once she adapts, she does well.  She loves the routine and predictability.

8.  She does not enjoy bath time, but she is getting a little better, with time!

9. She sometimes will stop dead in her tracks while we are out on a walk if she sees someone!  This can makes walks difficult, at times, in our neighborhood.  However, in unfamiliar places, she constantly is moving, making walks easier!  This is why we like to try new places to go for walks!

10. She loves to lay by my feet while I am working at the computer, she is a very faithful companion who keeps me company while I work!  We are so fortunate to have our fur girl!

Happy Friday!  We hope that you have a great weekend!  We are going to get together with friends and also see Kung Fu Panda 3!

Victory: Photography Project — 81

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

We had a long snowy, blizzard weekend!  We are finally dug out after six hours of shoveling over the weekend.  Doug and I are both quite sore.  Victory helped “supervise” while she sat in the trunk of the SUV watching us work, while making sure that no strangers encroached on her territory!  Isn’t she just adorable!  We made our way to a “Blizzard Party” on foot at a neighbor’s house, which was fun!  In a way, it was kind of nice to be snowed in; it was very peaceful and we are getting caught up on some projects along with having a cozy extended weekend!  Although, we are glad to be done shoveling!

A few images from this weekend are shown below!

Happy Monday!

Victory: Snow Time

Happy Friday!  We are in for a big snow storm beginning later on today through tomorrow.  Doug and I plan to cook some new recipes, watch Neftlix, and get caught up on some projects.  Most of the grocery store’s shelves were bare yesterday, but we managed to get what we needed for the weekend.  Our little Victory has all of her winter gear; however, she would prefer no snow, if she had her way!  Pictured below is our fur girl during one of last year’s snow storms!

Have a great weekend and stay warm and safe!

Happy New Year!  How was your Holiday?  We returned home yesterday after a week and a half visiting relatives!  It was nice to visit with family, and I enjoyed catching up with my sister.  She is growing her little baby while sporting a baby bump, and we can’t wait to meet our nephew this spring!  It was nice to get away and have a change of scenery.  Victory did pretty well while we were away, although we believe she is not too interested in expanding her pack!  Victory was so happy to be home and in her (our) bed last night!  Victory can be a complicated little lady!  Victory also received many nice gifts for Christmas!  She got a new feeder, clothing, toys, and treats!

Since we were going to be away for the Holidays and our December was quite busy, we did not put up a Christmas tree like last year.  However, each year I take a photo of our fur girl by the Christmas tree, an annual tradition along with visiting Santa!  This year, Victory sat by her Grandma’s Christmas tree, shown below!

We hope that you had a great Holiday!  I am looking forward to the new year, catching up, and getting back into the swing of things!

Happy New Year!

Below is a culmination of snapshots from 2015 with our fur girl, Victory!  We love her so very much!  Reflecting upon this past year, we enjoyed many fun adventures together which, we will always cherish.  We look forward to another great year with many possibilities in 2016!  We are very grateful.

Victory: Visits Santa Again!

Victory is ready for Christmas, and we are as ready as we can be for Christmas!  We had a busy weekend, which included taking Victory to visit Santa this past weekend!  Victory was such a good girl on Santa’s lap again!  Victory wore her new Christmas ruff, and she coincidentally ended up matching Santa this year!  Notably, Santa even remembered our fur girl this year from last year’s visit!

Shown below on the left is Victory when she visited Santa last year; and shown on the right is Victory when she visited Santa this year!  As you can see, Victory was a bit more comfortable with Santa this year as opposed to her being a little more skeptical last year, when she met Santa for the first time!  We are making progress!

Additionally, you can view Biscuit visiting Santa here!

Doug and I typically celebrate Christmas together in D.C., a little before Christmas.  This weekend, we are going to a Holiday party and we are going to D.C. for a nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and we are going to see the National Tree, an annual tradition!  We took Victory with us last year to see the National Tree and we had a ball!  We got Victory’s grooming completed this week, and she is getting her monthly bath this weekend so that she is ready and looking her best for Christmas!

Happy Friday!

It is almost the end of the year, and I thought that it would be neat to take a look back and see how far Victory has come physically and emotionally since adopting her in October 2013.  The images below are shown in chronological order starting in the lower right corner and ending in the upper left corner.  All photographs were taken during 2015.  Victory has really blossomed, and we feel so fortunate that she is part of our little family!  You can also view a year in review of Victory for 2014 here.

Happy Friday!  Have a great weekend!

Victory: Photography Project — 77

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

While we were in Michigan over Thanksgiving, we met Chrissy, a relative of Victory who is also a survivor of the horrible hoarding situation that Victory also survived.  (Here is what Chrissy looked like prior to adoption).  Not only are Chrissy and Victory physically similar, their personalities and mannerisms are also similar!  Unlike Victory, Chrissy had a litter of puppies shortly after being rescued, and then Chrissy went to a special foster home for socialization.  Similar to Victory, upon being rescued, Chrissy was extremely timid, shy, malnourished, and fearful.  However, with time, love, and patience, Chrissy has blossomed, both physically and emotionally, and she now has a wonderful furever home, including an older sheltie sister!

It was neat to meet another pup who was also rescued from the same hoarding situation.  Wouldn’t it be neat to have a sheltie reunion with all of the sheltie survivors and their pups who were adopted?!  If I lived closer to the tri-state area, it would be much easier to coordinate!

It is my hope that Biscuit, Victory, and Chrissy encourage others to consider dog rescue.  There are so many wonderful animals who are in need of furever homes.

Happy Friday!  We hope that you have a great weekend!  This weekend I hope to make more progress on my photography project; we hope to get caught up at home from being away; and possibly take Victory to see Santa, a new annual tradition!
