Victory: Photography Project — 53

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

Victory continues her training.  With time, practice, and continued patience, Victory will continue to make progress.  She has already made significant strides in the nearly eighteen months since we adopted her.

Since the weather has improved, and hopefully the snow is gone for good until later this year, we have been able to take longer walks together with Victory!  She loves walking once she gets going!  Below are a couple of images of Victory walking around the neighborhood on a windy afternoon!  Last night, since it was so nice outside, we all went for a walk together in the neighborhood while Victory rode in her Hound About!  However, we all got soaked at the end of our walk as it began to rain heavily!

This weekend, we are headed to Pennsylvania for more photo shoots for my photography project.  I hope and plan to be done photographing this entire project in early July.  Doug and Victory are coming along with me.  We also plan to take Victory on some fun adventures, and it will be her second time staying in a hotel!  (We rented a house last year in Quebec and she, of course, has stayed with family!)  It should be fun!

Happy Friday!

This week has been a crazy busy week, which has zoomed by in nothing flat and here is Friday already and it is also the first official day of spring and it is snowing!  We hope that warm temperatures will come soon.  Even though it has been a busy week, Victory and I made time at the beginning of the week to capture a few fun photos while she was in our bed with her ‘Victory Bone Pillow!‘  Isn’t she just adorable!  Doug comes home today, and we plan to take Victory on some outings this weekend!  We start private lessons for Victory on Tuesday and we hope that this will help her anxiety.  This also is my last ‘free weekend’ for a while before all of my photo shoots are in full swing in order to complete the second half of my photography project!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Well, we think that spring might be on the way with these warmer temperatures, and we hope that we have seen the last of the snow!  Victory’s spirits are up with these warmer temperatures, and we walked around the neighborhood last night and took Victory in her Hound About, which she loved!

We are half way through our training class with our fur girl and she is doing well and making progress.  Since Victory has quite a bit of anxiety with the outdoors and being afraid of new people, next week we begin private training lessons at home to help desensitize her when she is in these situations so that she is not so scared and anxious.  She did a great job with her “come,” “sit,” and “touch” in her most recent class.  She is quite a quick learner — we just need to build her confidence more, especially in situations that cause her anxiety.  Hopefully, one-on-one training will help us with this issue.  She loves all of the training treats and she worked so hard in class this week that she was tuckered out by the time we got home!  We hope to make more progress in the coming weeks and we hope to build her confidence!

Below, Victory is walking around the neighborhood — she was happy the snow was finally melting!

Happy Friday!

Below are a few images of Victory from a recent walk together, just prior to sunset before the deep freeze and snow!  We are looking forward to warmer temperatures and more outings together!  This weekend marks daylight savings, a step towards spring, we hope!

Here is a video, a pick me up, if you will, for all you creatives!

Happy Friday!

Below are a some images from this past weekend!  We put on Victory’s fleece, boots, and hat and went for a walk in the snow!  Once she got moving, she did well.  However, her hat had to come off as it was impacting her orientation while walking in the snow; and because of the depth of the snow her fleece boots started to come off so we took them off so we would not loose any!  This was the first time we really got outside in the snow with Victory!  However, I think that we are all ready for warmer temperatures!

Happy Friday!

Doug and I had a nice, quiet long weekend, and we celebrated Valentine’s Day by going to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants, exchanging cards, and coming home and watching Netflix together with Victory!  She loves to sit in between us on the sofa and beg for treats, a nightly ritual!

We could not forget Victory on her second Valentine’s Day with us!  We got her a couple chew toys — she always needs more toys to hoard!  Here Victory is below checking them out, and they are now in her ‘hut‘ with the rest of her toy stash!

And today, we get another day together as we have a snow day!  We hope that everyone is staying warm!

Happy Tuesday!

We had a quiet weekend, and since the weather was so warm yesterday, we gave Victory a much needed bath!  We think that this is Victory’s least favorite activity!  I wish I could document Victory’s bath time, but she is really fast and it take both Doug and I to bathe her!  Maybe at some point she will tolerate her baths better and I can get some images of her in the tub!  However, she did not jump out of the bath tub this time, although she tried!  However, shown below, Victory looks great, post bath, drying, and brushing — back to our fluffy girl!   Her fur feels silky smooth, and she even posed for me after her bath!  We use Espree shampoo and conditioner, which works really well!  Now, Victory shouldn’t need a bath for another month or so!

This weekend we finally got some sun on Saturday, which was a nice break from some of the more dreary days we have been having!  Doug likes Lionel Trains so we went to a train show at the Maryland State Fair Grounds.  It was not quite what we expected, as we were hoping for some good finds.  However, Victory had a good time and she came home with an unused/new Lionel Christmas train car from 2004, the year Doug and I met.   Fortunately, she was allowed to come to the show with us — I mean who could say no to our adorable fur girl dressed in her pink winter gear, shown below!  Victory was a hit at the train show and we met another person who adopted a sheltie from the sheltie rescue, Sheltie Haven Sheltie Rescue, Inc., where we adopted Biscuit!  Getting Victory out of the house for an outing was good for her morale!  Victory starts training again this month so that should help break up these cold winter days for her!

Victory is pictured below at the train show and outside on some bleachers at the Maryland State Fair Grounds!

Happy Monday!

PS — There are some aesthetic updates to the blog!

Victory: Photography Project — 45

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

Victory is pretty in pink!  Isn’t Victory just adorable in her pink fleece and pink hat!  I put together some recent images of her in pink!  She looks really good in this color!  Victory is ready for winter with her clothing and gear, as winter has indeed arrived!  She even has new boots!  We got them in Québec, so we will see if she likes to wear them outside, as we have not yet tried them on her outside!  (Victory tolerated me putting them on her in the store!)

Sometime during this coming year, Doug and I plan to commission a painting of Victory in the similar vein as her brother Biscuit’s portrait.  We have to figure out what Victory will wear and what image to base the painting, but I am sure the color pink will be involved!  The portrait of Victory will be hung right beside Biscuit’s painting in our dinning room.

Happy Thursday!

Victory: Paw Art

When we went to Annapolis over Thanksgiving weekend, we purchased a Paw Posie Kit.  With this kit, you first place the paint on a wet sponge and then you take your furry family member’s paw and place his/her paw in the paint and then you immediately place the paw on the paper.  You repeat this process until you have roughly three to four paw prints on the paper, heavy card stock.  (We purchased a red kit, which came out looking a little pink — Victory’s favorite color.)

On a weekend after Victory’s paws and nails were clipped at the vet’s office, we decided to make her paw prints because there was less fur to get in the way of her prints.  It took both Doug and I to make the paw prints.  As a result, I could not photograph the process of making Victory’s paw prints.  Doug held the paper and I dabbed Victory’s paw in the paint and placed her paw on the paper three times!  Victory was extremely cooperative, and she made beautiful paw prints — she is a Pawcasso!  Then, we gave her a bath, much to Victory’s dismay, to wash off the paint, etc.

After the paint was dry containing her beautiful and dainty paw prints, shown below on the lower right, we sent the paw prints along with background information about Victory to the artist, Rosemary Williams, located in Annapolis, who uses water colors to create flowers from the paw prints.  We decided we wanted red roses to be made out of Victory’s paw prints.  Thus, Rosemary made wild red roses out of Victory’s paw prints and you can still even see the detail of Victory’s prints from her paw on the final watercolor, shown below!  We are going to professionally frame and hang Victory’s Paw Posies in our home in order to preserve her paw prints!  We think that this is a really unique keepsake; we had fun making the paw prints together; and we were pleased with the result — the final watercolor feels like our sweet Victory!

Happy Wednesday!
