Biscuit and Benji

Biscuit and Benji had a really good time together this weekend when they saw each other!  Biscuit and Benji both smiled all evening!  Benji is looking very handsome as always!  Below is a photograph from their little get together!

The Importance of Dog Rescue – Biscuit’s Successful Rescue

Biscuit is doing really well.  Biscuit is probably in the best health that he has ever been in.  Biscuit’s recent surgery went very well, and Biscuit is in good spirits and he is walking the neighborhood very confidently!  On his walks, Biscuit is always hoping to catch a glimpse of Princess while he is at the neighborhood park — a special treat for Biscuit!  Biscuit is also looking forward to his play with Benji this weekend!

Shown below, one can see Biscuit’s dramatic transformation over the past fourteen (14) months since we rescued our beloved little Biscuit!  As evidenced by the photographs below, dog rescue is extremely important because it gives dogs as well as other animals a second chance at life in a safe and loving home.

There are many local shelters and dog rescue groups in virtually every city.  For further reading to get one started, one can read more about dog rescue at: SPCAASPCA; NMDR; HUA; NDRC; Hooves and Paws Animal RescuePetfinder.com; and the American Kennel Club Breed Specific Rescue Groups.

Biscuit Presently.

Happy Friday!

Biscuit waking up from his nap and going for a walk!

Today Biscuit had a really good nap, and I photographed Biscuit as he was waking up from his nap and I took a few photos of him during our walk today — although he was eager to get home and eat his dinner!

Below are a few photographs of our little Biscuit!  Biscuit has been smiling a lot on his walks.  He really is enjoying the warm weather!

Hound About the Harbor

Yesterday the weather was really nice here in Baltimore, and, therefore, Doug assembled Biscuit’s Hound About!  Biscuit had a really nice time strolling around the Harbor.  Doug and I went to dinner in Harbor East and took Biscuit with us, along with this kibble for treats!  Biscuit put many smiles on people’s faces at the Harbor.  Many people were surprised to see a doggie in this capacity!  When we returned to our neighborhood after dinner, Biscuit took his early evening walk before taking a snooze when he got home!

Biscuit has been entered in another photo contest!

We have entered our little Biscuit in another photo contest!  Biscuit has been entered in a photography calendar contest with the Maryland SPCA, an animal rescue organization,  for its 2013 wall calendar.  There are thirteen (13) opportunities for Biscuit to be featured — either on the cover of the 2013 Maryland SPCA calendar; or on one (1) of the twelve (12) monthly pages of the 2013 Maryland SPCA calendar.  We should hear back from the Maryland SPCA in July or August 2012 as to whether Biscuit has been selected!  We hope that Biscuit will be as successful as he was with Orvis!

Joel Satore, a National Geographic photographer, featured on NBC News last night, has photographed many different types of exotic and endangered animals, including an interesting biodiversity project.  Joel Satore has also photographed dogs located in shelter and rescue organizations.  He has a neat job photographing and traveling the world.

The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend and through next week, and Doug is going to put  Biscuit’s Hound About together so that we can wheel him around the City and go on longer walks!  Biscuit has been enjoying the nice weather, and he even got to see his “girlfriend,” Princess, last night, which is always a treat for Biscuit!

Happy Friday!

Biscuit’s New Ramp!

Last night, Biscuit received his new ramp with new, neutral color berber carpeting for traction.  So far, he really seems to enjoy his ramp, which is a nice accommodation as Biscuit has arthritis.  Biscuit is now able to manuever the entire main floor of our house with ease.  Our neighbor, Jerome, who is an owner of the Frenchman White Corporation, was nice enough to make this ramp for our Biscuit as shown below!

Biscuit is doing well, and he is really enjoying  his long walks to the park  in this beautiful, spring-like, weather.

Biscuit’s New Bedding

This past weekend, Doug and I went to Ikea to purchase some new bookshelves, and we decided to purchase Biscuit some new bedding since he likes the duvet on our bed so much!  Below are a few photos of the bedding that we got for Biscuit.  So far, he really seems to love it!  The first night, Sunday night, Bsicuit thoroughly sniffed out his beding and then he took his front paws and did some “nesting” with the duvet to get it just the way he liked it!  (Biscuit can be quite particular and persistent!)

Biscuit – Post Surgery

Biscuit is doing very well and he is looking good after getting a bath and freshening up since his surgery!  Some recent photographs of little Biscuit are below.

Biscuit’s Monumental Day Has Arrived – The Orvis Cover Dog!

We are very happy and proud to announce that yesterday we received the March 2012 Orvis Dog Book with Biscuit’s photograph on the cover!  Biscuit is officially an Orvis Cover Dog!  Biscuit appears four (4) times in the March 2012 issue of the Orvis Dog Book!  Below are some photographs of Biscuit appearing in the March 2012 issue of the Orvis Dog Book as well as some additional photographs of our precious little Biscuit!

Biscuit’s stitches are out, and his t-shirt is off!

We are happy to report that Biscuit’s stitches are now out and his t-shirt is off as of this morning and the vet said that his incision looks good and has healed properly.  Biscuit was so happy to leave the vet’s office today that he went running to the car and did not even make time to sniff around or go potty!  We received Tramadol medicine, a pain reliever, to give to Biscuit on an intermittent, as needed basis, for his arthritis.  If Biscuit’s arthritis worsens greatly, then we will explore cold laser therapy and adequan injections to treat his arthritis.  (The vet does not want to put Biscuit on medicine for his arthritis on a regular basis due to his kidney issue).  We will return to the vet in April 2012 for blood work and urinalysis concerning Biscuit’s kidney issue, etc.  If all goes well at the vet visit in April, we do not have to return to the vet until October 2012 for a follow-up.

Biscuit will get a bath tomorrow to freshen up – more photographs to follow!  We are happy that all is going well for our little Biscuit.

Happy Friday!
