A New Baby Panda!

We are avid panda people, and my husband, Doug, called me early this morning excited to inform me that Ms. Mei had a baby cub last night!  According to the National Zoo, the panda cub was born around 10:46 p.m. last night.

According to the chief veterinarian at the National Zoo, “Mei Xiang is behaving exactly the same way she did when Tai Shan was born.  She is cradling her cub closely.”

This is very exciting, because there have been many failed attempts to have a cub with Mei  Xiang and Tian Tian.  It will be exciting to see this cub in person when he/she eventually will be on display at the National Zoo.

Keep your eyes on the panda cam and on the National Zoo’s website!

Biscuit Update

I have not taken any photos of our little Biscuit since this weekend.  Biscuit has been under the weather and he is still battling a skin yeast infection on his body and an ear infection.  He also has had an upset stomach from his new antibiotic.  Luckily, Biscuit woke us up so Doug could take him outside several times.  We cut the dosage of his antibiotics back to help with his upset stomach.  Biscuit has even cooperated with us giving him frequent baths using his medicated shampoo!  He looks so different when he is all wet!  There will be more photos of Biscuit to come!

This image below from Nova Scotia taken from our little house that we rented – reminds me of how peaceful we felt when we were there!

Date Night

Friday nights are usually our “date night.”  However, what would date night be without little Biscuit!  He had a ball when we took him to Harbor East on Friday for dinner!  He had a great time!

On another note, Biscuit went to the vet on Friday and he has a skin yeast infection and another ear infection.  Hopefully, they will resolve with the medicated shampoo, antibiotics, and ear drops.

Pooch About Pennsylvania!

This weekend, Doug and I took Biscuit on a weekend trip to Pennsylvania.  As you can see, Biscuit was happy to travel!  We thought it would be fun to take Biscuit to an Orvis store.  Due to traffic concerns, we headed north versus south.  Doug and I first took Biscuit to the Orvis store in Downington, Pennsylvania.  He felt right at home and toured the store off leash!  Then, we took Biscuit with us to the Iron Hill Brewery in West Chester, Pennsylvania for dinner!  Biscuit had great time!  I think that he gave us his paw for kibble at least 100 times!  Biscuit was so worn out by the time we got back to the hotel.  We are not sure he got off his Orvis bed during the entire night!

The next day, we took Biscuit to another Orvis store in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.  At this Orvis location, the Orvis staff knew and recognized Biscuit and they were happily surprised to meet little Biscuit.  The Orvis staff gave us the Orvis Commitment handout shown below featuring Biscuit representing the Orvis Petfinder Commitment, supporting dog rescue.  We also took Biscuit  again for dinner at Iron Hill Brewery in Delaware!

As a result of this trip, we were delighted to learn that Biscuit is currently displayed in Orvis stores.  A few images of Biscuit in other Orvis stores are below!  Biscuit has also been shown in Orvis stores nationwide in poster format since March 2012.

We were also excited to learn that beginning sometime this month, September, for several months, Biscuit will be featured in a large poster format, roughly four (4) feet high by six (6) feet long in the following Orvis store locations: (1) Charlotte, North Carolina; (2) Dedham, Massachusetts; (3) Palisades, West Nyak, New York; (4) Royal Oak, Michigan; (5) Woodlands, Texas; (6) Tysons Corner, Vienna, Virginia; (7) New York, New York; and (8) Bend, Oregon.  We will be heading to Tysons Corner with Biscuit to see Biscuit’s large poster displayed.  We are happy that  Biscuit is being shown in an Orvis store near our home!  More photos will be forthcoming!

Here are some photographs from Biscuit’s adventures in Pennsylvania!

Enjoy!

We also learned that Biscuit is currently featured in some Orvis stores representing the Orvis Petfinder Commitment.  A few examples, photographs courtesy of Orvis, are shown below!

Benjamin

We recently found out that Benji, our friend’s sheltie, is sick with cancer.   Doug and I fell in love with Benji, and he is the reason we rescued and adopted Biscuit.  Benji is an older sheltie, but it still is not easy receiving this news.  We visited Benji this weekend, and he is still looking good and smiling considering his condition.  Benji has forever left a permanent paw print in our hearts, and Benji has made a positive impact on our lives.  We are happy that the opportunity presented itself that we were able to spend a week with Benji a few weeks ago.  Please send little Benji warm and positive thoughts.

Biscuit and Pizza!

Doug and I recently took Biscuit in his Hound About to Harbor East for pizza!  Well, Biscuit did not get any pizza, but he sure wanted some.  We packed his kibble, which he persistently and continuously gave us his paws — requesting food!   Biscuit is now regularly giving us “double paws!”  (Our scratched up legs are proof that he never gives up when he wants something!)  Here are a few images of Biscuit while we went out for dinner together!

Happy Monday!

26 Bottles of Biscuit!

I am very happy to report last night my friend, Marie, surprised us when she sent me these photos below!  Marie is the winner of $100.00 for locating Biscuit on the Jones Soda Co. bottle!  She located and found Biscuit on Jones Soda Co. bottles at the Giant in Baltimore County!  At first she found 2 bottles of Jones Soda Co. with Biscuit appearing on the label on the shelf.  Then, after looking further, she located 24 more bottles with Biscuit appearing on the label on the shelves, thereby cleaning the Giant out obtaining a total of 26 bottles of Biscuit!

We are really excited to see these bottles in person!

You can locate Jones Soda Co. products in your area here.

Monday

Is this how you are feeling today?

Happy Monday!

Biscuit’s New Feeder

When we arrived home from vacation, biscuit received a birthday gift from his Grandma and Grandpa Carver!  Doug also received a matching mug to match Biscuit’s bowls!  Now, Biscuit has a feeder on both levels of our house to easily accommodate Biscuit!

Happy Friday!

If A Dog Were The Teacher

If A Dog Were The Teacher

“If a dog were the teacher you would learn stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they’ve invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you’re scolded, don’t buy into the guilt thing and pout… run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you’re not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and them gently.” ~Author Unknown

Little Biscuit is our little teacher, a Buddha, in many ways.  Biscuit has shown us how to live in the present moment.  Biscuit is always living in the present moment, as he does not know any different.  He is not concerned about the past or the future.  It takes very little to make Biscuit happy.  He is so thrilled when he gets a few treats (his kibble); and he wants and loves to be included in whatever we are doing — spanning from just sitting with us to going on vacation, which he loved.  Biscuit is very persistent and determined, and he never gives up.  Biscuit is very loyal.  In fact, he is the most loyal living being I have ever met.  Most of all, Biscuit makes each day special just by being him!  We feel very lucky to have met little Biscuit.
