Biscuit Update

Biscuit is having a great vacation!  He really loves the beach.  We took him to Halifax yesterday and he was so happy to be out and about that he wore himself out.  He tried to jump out of his Hound About because he was so excited!

Below are some photographs from his birthday!

Biscuit is on the mend

Biscuit is doing better since his fall.  He is walking now, but he is still on pain medicine, and he has very short walks.  We discovered last night at the vet, that Biscuit also has an ear infection.  He is now on medicine to help clear his ear infection up.  Otherwise, Biscuit is doing pretty well.  Below is a photograph of Biscuit taken today.

Biscuit is Injured

This past weekend, Biscuit sprained his elbow located on his front paw.   He slipped after getting a bath and he injured his front paw and bruised his chest.  We immediately took Biscuit to for an emergency vet visit, which confirmed via x-rays that Biscuit did not have any broken bones, thank goodness.  Biscuit did receive laser therapy at the vet’s office, shown in the photo below, to help his paw elbow/paw heal.  Biscuit is having difficulty walking due to his injury.  He is on pain medicine to help manage his pain, which also makes him sleepy.

Biscuit is improving, but he is not yet one hundred percent.  We hope that he improves a little bit each day.  We are going to the vet tonight for a follow-up appointment.

Please think good thoughts for our little Biscuit.

Exciting News — Biscuit appears on a Jones Soda Co. Label!

We have some exciting news — we found out today that Biscuit’s photograph is on the Jones Soda Co. label!  Jones Soda Co. has printed 16,666 labels of our precious Biscuit, which have recently been shipped out for distribution across the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.  Biscuit’s image appears on the bottles containing the green apple flavor soda.  There also is a chance that Biscuit appears on the carton as well!

Copies of the actual label have been sent to us from Jones Soda Co., which we are waiting to receive.   We will post a photograph of the label, once we receive it.  Since there is no way to track the bottles, please let us know if you spot Biscuit in the store!  We would love to be able to purchase and find his photograph on an actual bottle(s) for a keepsake.  According to Jones Soda Co., his label appearing on the green apple flavor could be out in stores for the next year or so.  (Apparently, the soda has a two-year shelf life.)

Thank you for everyone who voted!

Announcing Katherine Carver Photography

I am very happy to announce my new photography business, Katherine Carver Photography.  You can view and share my website using the following link, www.katherinecarverphotography.com.  I am focusing on dog and animal photography with a fine art documentary approach.  Biscuit, our rescue Shetland Sheepdog, was the inspiration for pursuing this artistic endeavor.  Biscuit awakened a desire to carry my camera everywhere — creating images that preserve fleeting moments that chronicle Biscuit’s story forever; and simultaneously recording another realm that would otherwise remain unseen.

My goal is to record the unique personalities and signature physical attributes of the animals that I photograph.  I believe those who hire me are actively searching for an alternative fine art documentary approach to capture the heart and soul of their cherished furry family member(s).

“We photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing, and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth can make them come back again.  We cannot develop and print a memory.”
-Henri Cartier-Bresson

Thank you,
Katie

Biscuit’s Successful Rescue Story

Below is Biscuit’s rescue story published by Orvis.  I hope that you enjoy, and consider rescuing a dog, another family member.  Biscuit has changed our lives in so many positive ways.

Biscuit Update

Biscuit is doing well.  The ear culture revealed that Biscuit has a staph ear infection.  He is now on new antibiotic medicine for his ear as well as medicine for soft stools.  The vet said that Biscuit’s ear infection could have put stress on his system.  So, we hope to be done with these medicines by Sunday and have Biscuit feeling even better.  He is still enjoying going for walks outside and giving us his paw for treats (his kibble)!

Happy Wednesday!

Biscuit Health Update: Biscuit went to the vet last night, and he does have a bacteria and yeast infection in his left ear.  An ear culture was taken and sent to the lab; however, the vet did see bacteria on the slide she reviewed in the office.  The vet sent us home with some antibiotic ear drops to use until the cytology results come back and the vet can best determine what medicine to put Biscuit on to treat the infection.  We should hear from the vet by Monday.  The vet said that Biscuit may have to get an ear flush as well to make sure his eardrum and membrane looks ok before starting the ear medicine.  Biscuit was a very good boy at the vet!  Although, he hates having his ears cleaned and he does not like the antibiotic drops placed into his ears.

We took Biscuit to Federal Hill in his Hound About last night before bed to get some fresh air, and he loved it and was all smiles!
