Biscuit’s Successful Surgery

Our precious little Biscuit came through surgery today with no unexpected surprises.  His small mass was removed and was sent to the lab for biopsy, and we should receive the results next week.  His teeth have been cleaned and look very white!  No tooth extractions were necessary per the exam and dental x-rays.  The x-rays confirmed that Biscuit does have arthritis in his front paws.  Biscuit will be on antibiotics and a pain-killer for the next week, in addition to taking the medicine to lower his urine protein levels.  Biscuit, at his next check up, may be placed on medicine or receive special treatments for his arthritis after he recovers from his surgery.  Biscuit, unfortunately, will be wearing a Comfy Cone as shown below for the next two weeks until his stitches are removed.  All in all, Biscuit  is doing pretty well with the large size Comfy Cone — he is learning to maneuver his way around.  He is still giving us his paw for more kibble!  We are very happy that Biscuit made it through surgery with no complications, and hope that he has a smooth recovery.

Biscuit’s Surgery

Please keep good thoughts as tomorrow is a big day for Biscuit – he is having surgery to remove a small mass, complete a dental cleaning, and perform x-rays to assess his arthritis.

Biscuit – Centerfold

We just received our February 2012 Orvis Dog Book and Biscuit appears again as the centerfold!  (In the centerfold there is a small photograph of what Biscuit looked like at the Sheltie Rescue, prior to being adopted).  Biscuit also appears on the back cover of the February 2012 Orvis Dog Book, in support of rescue dogs in connection with Orvis and the Petfinder.com Foundation.  Please see the photographs below.  We could not be happier!

Biscuit will appear on the March 2012 Spring Orvis Dog Book coming out in about one month!

Biscuit’s Valentine’s Grooming

Yesterday Biscuit got a bath as well as a nail and paw trim in time for Valentine’s Day!  We think that he feels better each time that he gets a bath!  Below are some photographs taken this morning.  He is looking good!

Vacation 2012

Biscuit has planned his vacation for this summer!  We will be taking Biscuit to Nova Scotia for three weeks this summer!  We had such a good time last year that we decided to return this summer and rent the same cottage, below, on the water, just outside of Halifax.  We are looking forward to a relaxing and fun vacation with our little Biscuit.  We also will celebrate Biscuit’s 9th Birthday while in Nova Scotia.

We plan to blog from Nova Scotia this summer!

Below is a photograph from last year where Biscuit enjoyed his first boat ride in Peggy’s Cove.
