Victory: A Visit with Santa!

This past weekend we took Victory  to visit Santa again!  She was a very good girl!  Of course, Santa and his helpers remembered our little fur girl, as this is Victory’s third time visiting Santa!  (You can see Victory’s previous trips to see Santa here and here.)  Victory wore her new red cable sweater for her visit with Santa!  All proceeds from visiting Santa are donated to a local dog rescue, a good cause.  If you are interested, be sure to check with and visit your local pet stores to see if there is a Santa in your area that specializes in furry family members!

Additionally, each year, I have a photo ornament made with Victory and Santa!

We hope that you have a lovely week enjoying the Holiday spirit!

Happy Monday!

Victory: Photography Project — 93

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

We went to Newark, Delaware this weekend and took our fur girl, Victory with us!  It was nice to get away.  Before leaving, we finished most of our Pawliday cards, while getting our small Christmas tree and Holiday decorations up around the house, including our outdoor lights, wreath, poinsettias, and indoor window candles!  It feels cozy in our house, especially with all of our candles.  We are looking forward to making Christmas cookies and watching some festive movies.  While we are not ready for Christmas, and we are taking a low-key approach this year, Victory is ready!  She looks festive in her red cable Christmas sweater, shown below!  She is also going to visit Santa again this month!   While we cannot believe another year is coming to a close shortly, we are excited to see what the New Year will bring!

Happy Tuesday!

Victory: Photography Project — 92

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

This past weekend, for the long weekend, we took our fur girl, Victory, to Dewey Beach!  The weather was nice and Victory loved the beach.  There were not too many other people or dogs on the beach, so it was perfect, in Victory’s eyes!  Each time we went to the beach, we walked several miles, and Victory was never ready to leave the beach — she dug her back legs into the sand and she would not budge and she turned around to head in the opposite direction we were heading!  This was the first time Victory dipped her little paws into the Atlantic Ocean!  The sunsets were very beautiful.  We had a fun time together and Dewey Beach is very dog friendly, thankfully!  It is always nice to visit the ocean!  A few images from our trip are shown below.

Happy Tuesday!

Victory: Photography Project — 91

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

Last weekend, near Victory’s birthday, we took Victory to the pumpkin patch, an annual tradition, to pick out our pumpkins, which Doug will carve!  We all had a great time!  We still could only find one pumpkin patch located in Delaware, after looking in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, that would permit a furry family member to come along!  We had fun, Victory had fun, and the weather was just gorgeous!  After the pumpkin patch, we went to our favorite restaurant in Delaware, where furry family members are permitted on the patio — there were nine other furry family members on the patio, along with Victory, that evening!  A few images from our annual trip to the pumpkin patch are shown below.  You can also view images from our trip to the pumpkin patch last year, here.

Doug is carving our pumpkins again this year for Halloween so stay tuned!  Enjoy the photos below!

Happy Wednesday!

Victory: A Birthday Celebration — 5 years!

Today marks three years since we adopted our dear little Victory!  We decided to make October 12 Victory’s birthday — the day we went to Michigan and adopted our sweet fur girl.  (We also took the same approach with Biscuit’s birthday.)  Victory was likely one to two years old when we adopted her, per the Michigan Sheltie Rescue.

This year, for Victory’s birthday, we did a light pink and gold themed birthday!  (Last year, we did a pink themed birthday and the year before, we did rainbow themed birthday for Victory!)  We purchased some fun light pink and gold themed decorations, balloons, party hat, and new light pink sweater for Victory in honor of her birthday!  Victory also enjoyed some steak in lieu of birthday cake, which she gobbled down in no time flat!  Victory looked absolutely adorable on her birthday, as always, and she even smiled this year, shown below!  (She is always so cooperative with my ideas, and Doug blew up every single balloon!)  She had a fun birthday, a fun long weekend, and she enjoyed being over fed along with a trip to the Eastern Shore for crabs!  We are the lucky ones to share our lives with this wonderful, loyal, and loving being.

For Victory’s birthday, we gave her a new pink sweater and a new Orvis personalized canvas toy tote — for her ever growing collection of toys!  Victory also got a gift card from her Grandma and Grandpa in Michigan, which she will use to get some yummy treats!  We all had a great day together!  October is our favorite month, and Victory is looking forward to the pumpkin patch, carving a pumpkin, and sharing her Halloween costume!  (Hint — she is not going to be an animal this year!)

(All birthday decorations are from Oh Happy Day!)

Painting: Victory’s Portrait

We finally had Victory’s portrait painted, which is painted in the same vein as her brother, Biscuit’s painting, shown below.  They soon will be hung side by side in our dinning room!

For Victory, since she is a little refined beauty, we decided to have an Audrey Hepburn inspired painting.  Below are some images, from around the web, that I put together to create a small inspiration board for the painting featuring the clothing, tiara, necklace, colors, etc.

Next, we found two images of Victory to base the painting off of, shown below.

Next, the images were cropped similar to Biscuit’s painting and then situated next to Biscuit’s painting to see which image of Victory would work better.  We chose the image of Victory with the brick wall in the background, while incorporating her furs from the image in front of the Christmas tree, as we felt this image aesthetically worked better with Biscuit’s painting.

After creating an inspiration board and the selecting the two images of Victory, shown above, we commissioned Mary Medrano to paint Victory’s portrait.  She also painted Biscuit’s portrait, shown below, in 2011, soon after we rescued our sweet dear Biscuit.

Biscuit Painting 2011

With this visual information, Mary created a preliminary sketch of Victory, which the painting was based on, while keeping in mind our vision for the portrait.  The sketch is shown below.

Below is the final portrait of Victory, which we are very pleased with!  Mary was great to work with, and we corresponded during the entire process over email, and she let us see her progress every step of the way, which allowed us to provide feedback along the way, which we enjoyed.  As you can see, we also made sure to incorporate Victory’s name in her tiara, as Biscuit’s name appeared just below his handkerchief.

Finally, shown below, is how the paintings will soon be hung in our home — Victory and Biscuit will soon be hung, side by side, in our dinning room!  Since moving into our new home nearly three years ago, we saved a spot on the wall for Victory’s portrait.  Our loves, Biscuit and Victory, will forever proudly be displayed in our home!

Have a wonderful weekend!  It has been a really busy week for us and we are going to soak up some time at our pool this weekend!

Summer Update: Victory

This spring and summer has been unexpectedly chaotic, and I have not shared as much about our fur girl, Victory.  Victory is indeed doing very well!

Her fur coat continues to grow and she continues to fill out!  She has physically and emotionally come a long way from where she started with us.

Her health is doing well, as far as we know.  She has her annual check up with the vet soon to ensure she is healthy.

She is getting a little more confident.  She would still prefer not to share the sidewalk with anyone else during her daily walks, but she is getting better.

She still loves going for rides in her Hound About!

She loves outings.  It has been quite hot and humid here this summer, so we have not been able to take as many outings together, but we have managed a few get aways together this summer, which she loved.  With the summer heat, we have been taking Victory to TCBY in the evenings this summer and she absolutely loves it — she loves the peanut butter flavored yogurt, and she loves sharing a waffle cone with her Daddy!  We also take her out to dinner when it is not too hot!

She still absolutely loves coming home after an outing to our garage — she thinks it is the best thing ever as evidenced by her wide smile, front paws on the top of the interior car door, with her sheltie furs blowing in the wind.

She loves to play in bed at night before bed — this might be her favorite activity!  She knows when it is ‘last call’ and she heads up the stairs confidently and jumps into our bed waiting for me to pull down the duvet and pillows.  She is loves to run around and jump around the bed trying to put our hands in her mouth, while letting out a few prized barks!

She likes to sleep in.  When we wake up in the mornings, she is always laying above one of our heads!  She also loves to get a belly rub in the morning and she climbs back into bed, after her early morning potty, during the week, and curls up and rests while we get ready for the day.

She also loves her wet Fromm food, which is not currently being made anymore, and this spring we stockpiled what we were able to find online.  In the meantime, Victory has tried similar quality wet foods: Tiki; Weruva; and Evangers.  She, fortunately, seems to like them all!

She loves ‘people food.’  She also loves carbs — who would have guessed!  When we have dinner, she always comes over to the table for some ‘people food!’

She did really well on vacation this year!  She loved the beach, pictured below.

Victory is always by my side while I am working away at the computer, and I would not have it any other way!  She loves to lay by my feet under my desk and rest.  She is a wonderful and loving furry family member!  We love her so much and value each day with our precious fur girl!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend!  We are planning to rest and go to the pool!

Victory: Photography Project — 90

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

Happy Tuesday!  I saw a post on Instagram that said, “this feels like the Monday-est Tuesday ever!”  We hope that you had a lovely long weekend!  Doug and I, along with Victory, went to Delaware and Pennsylvania, the Brandywine Valley, for the long weekend!  The weather and temperatures were great!  We enjoyed a low-key, relaxed weekend together.

We went to the Iron Hill Brewery a few times for dinner, and Victory enjoyed going to dinner with us!  (We wish there was an Iron Hill closer to us, as it is one of our favorite restaurants!)  While away, Doug and I got hooked on Marcella, a really good murder mystery series!

We took Victory to a vineyard with us, shown below, where she was a hit!  We also took Victory to the Plymouth Meeting Orvis store, shown below, where we previously took her brother Biscuit!  Needless to say, Victory is recovering from her long weekend away, as she did not get her daily, standard 16 hours of sleep!  We had a great time together, and it was really nice to get away for a few days!  We hope that you had a great 4th of July weekend!

Happy Tuesday!

Beginning in January 2014, I started a weekly photography project with my muse, Victory!  I will continue to share this project on the blog this year!  My goal is to document all of Victory’s changes, while preserving fleeting moments and memories, while capturing moments of our everyday.

Happy Summer!  We hope that you had a lovely weekend!  It was beautiful, gorgeous weather here!  Doug enjoyed a really nice Father’s Day — his third Father’s Day with our fur girl, Victory!  For Father’s Day, we went to Andy Nelson’s for dinner, a favorite of Doug’s, followed by Rita’s for ice cream, which Victory also loved!  We had a great weekend together!

Little Victory has good taste and she gave her Daddy some nice Father’s Day gifts, pictured below: a custom Lionel train car featuring Doug and Victory; Duke Cannon shave cream and soap; a new bourbon; a custom photo mug featuring Doug and Victory (a yearly tradition); and a custom key chain featuring Doug and Victory.  Doug was very surprised and pleased!  A few photographs from our weekend are shown below!

Happy Monday!

Moments: Victory

We love our little fur girl, Victory, so very much!  It is difficult to believe that we have already celebrated two birthdays with our Victory.  The time is going by really quickly!  I thought that I would capture some moments here, on the blog, about our fur girl!

I love waking up with Victory in the morning with her furry head abutting  mine.

I love having a little furry friend waiting for me to finish showering so she can potty and have her breakfast!

I love how Victory loves to play each night before ‘night-night’ as she jumps around making growling noises, along with an occasional bark!

I love how Victory love her Daddy — giving him kisses in the same place on his face each night before bed!

I love taking long walks with Victory in her Hound About, which she loves!

I love how Victory is always laying at my feet as I work through the final portion of this long-term photography project!

I love ‘Waffle Cone Wednesday’ at TCBY with Victory!

I love how Victory is always up for an adventure!

I love how Victory travels with us, as our trips and vacations would never be the same!

I love how we are able to take Victory with us out to dinner during warmer months!

I love how Victory looks adorable in her Ergo, which she loves!

I love how Victory is so loyal and is always by my side, especially, when I am feeling sick.

I love how Victory loves routines, as do I!

I love how Victory is always promptly at the dinning room table waiting for some ‘human food,’ while kindly nudging me for more food with her snout!

I love how Victory loves to eat popcorn, and she has gotten so particular that she refuses to eat plain air-popped popcorn — she wants it to have cheese sprinkled on it — such discerning taste!

Most of all, I love how Victory is an integral family member.  We cannot imagine our lives without her.  What we give her, she returns one-hundred fold!  We are also the lucky ones!

Happy Friday!
